Side-event Belgium

Ce mardi 11 mai 2010 se tenait à la CSD-18, le side-event belge. L’objectif de ces réunions vise, selon les participants, à approfondir la connaissance sur un sujet particulier, présenter des moyens mis en place dans le pays concerné, ou identifier les challenges et les évolutions de certains sujets. A cela, chacun peut encore ajouter d’autres propositions.

 

Aujourd’hui c’était donc au tour de la représentation belge d’organiser son propre side-event avec comme thème : « Measuring trends towards sustainable development goals: Frameworks of indicators of consumption and production patterns and associated impacts ».

En français, ça donne : "Mesurer l’évolution des objectifs de développement durable : les indicateurs de consommation et de production, et les impacts associés".

 

Lors de cet événement, la Belgique partageais la scène avec le Maroc qu’elle avait invité à présenter sa manière de travailler sur le même sujet.

1:20–2:00 What is a framework of sustainable development (SD) indicators and how can such frameworks be used for monitoring the progress towards sustainable development (SD)?

 

Three concrete examples will be presented:

-       EEA-ETC/SCP: framework for measuring progress towards sustainable consumption and production (SCP) By Mikkel Stenbæk Hansen, David Watson (ETC/SCP), and Lars Fogh Mortensen (EEA)

-       UNEP and Morocco: A guidance framework on SCP indicators for developing countries and a national example of SDI framework By Arab Hoballah (Chief, SCP Branch, UNEP Division of Technology, Industry, and Econonomics) and by Touria Nabil (Head of Division of Planning and Foresight, Environment Department, Kingdom of Morocco)

-       Belgium: framework for measuring progress towards SD goals, including the measure of SCP By Nadine Gouzée and Natacha Zuinen (members of the Federal Planning Bureau of Belgium, SD Unit)
